Summer fun for everyone!
Walks and gentle hikes
through our region
SAN MARTINO IN BADIA
Piccolino - Bosco di Plaies - Longega
Time required: 1½ - 2 hours
Point of departure: Piccolino church
The wonderful walk, which offers a level
route through the forest of Plaies and on
to Longega, follows the former path of
the old road through the valley of Badia.
Starting from the church in Piccolino, the route begins by running northwards past the Maierhaus (Ladin: Ćiasa dl Maier), which dates from the 17th century. The path then crosses the meadows of Piccolino before plunging into the bosco di Plaies forest. The path does not begin to drop until the final section after Longega, when it runs downhill and finishes some 300 m to the south, on the state highway to San Vigilio. The return trip can then be made by public transport.

ANTERMOIA:
Church – Fornela – Runcac – Pinter – Church
Time required: 1 hour
This beautiful route, which begins above
the Antermoia inn, takes us across Alpine
meadows and onward to the Sotiac
houses. Just behind this group of houses,
the path branches off over a small bridge
and narrows as it runs down steeply to
the right, to lead us across the meadows
to Fornela-Hof. A left turn here brings us
onto the path that runs to the edge of
the forest, from where it goes down to
Runcac-Hof.
Antermoia – Rina – Antermoia
Time required: 3 hours
Point of departure: Church
Just below the Pension Maria, a side-route branches off to the left from the state highway (signposted Nr. 20), to run on to Tru-Höfen. The path then follows a level route over meadows and through a wood to the hamlet of Costalungia de Sot. It then continues through the wood to a small bridge, where we should note the turning that brings us on to the way back. The route passes a farm and runs through the wood again, before crossing the several meadows that separate us from the small village of Rina (1,432 metres above sea level).
Time required: 1½ hours.
Alpine-hut tour
Time required: 6 hours (it is also possible to shorten the route by using public transport as far as Würzjoch or the car park at Pé de Börz).
The hike runs from hut to hut, departing from the village square in Antermoia. The shorter variant begins at Pé de Börz or directly on Würzjoch.
Starting from Antermoia, we take the path to Alfarëi, before following the signs to the Maurerberg-Hütte Alpine hut. From here, we go downhill to the Pecol-Hütte and onward to the car park at Pé de Börz. The forest path (which is a toboggan run in winter) takes about 45 minutes to reach Würzjoch and the next two huts: Ütia de Börz Hütte and Cir-Hütte. After another walk of some 20 minutes through flower-strewn Alpine meadows, we find ourselves at the Fornella-Hütte which lies at the foot of the north face of Peitlerkofel. Turning left takes us onward to the outcrop of rocks known as Steinerne Stadt (“stony town” and, after about 35 minutes, to the final hut on the route: Göma-Hütte. From here, we take the marked path down to Antermoia.
