A winter adventure away from the slopes

The natural setting and fairytale-like beauty of the Dolomites inspires visitors to embark on exciting adventures. If you really want to be at one with nature, you should get away from the slopes to see the authentic side of the mountains on an athletic excursion. Put your fitness levels to the test on one of the ski tours in Lungiarü or enjoy the calm of snowshoe hiking on the Würzjoch mountain.

Ski tours in Lungiarü, the region’s best village for mountain climbers

Experienced ski tourers will find a variety of paths off the beaten track for exploring the spectacular mountains. The Puez-Geisler and Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Parks also have ski tours suitable for beginners. Local mountain guides will be happy to accompany you on your ski tours in Lungiarü.
There are sensational routes through Puez-Geisler Nature Park, either starting in the hamlet of Seres and heading to the Zendleser Kofel mountain or through the Mill Valley up to the Peitlerkofel mountain. There is also a picturesque route from the Würzjoch to the Gabler mountains. In Fanes-Sennes-Prags, athletes can start at the Pederü guest house and either head to the Sennes or Fanes mountain refuges.

Snowshoe hiking on the Würzjoch

Everybody loves snowshoe hiking. If you have never tried it, we highly recommend you swap your skis for snowshoes and go for a wander in the legendary mountains. It is so easy and tranquil that you will feel in tune with the snowy mountains. Go it alone or with a guide on a snowshoe hike on the Würzjoch, in Lungiarü or to the Pederü. Please note: You must always be aware of any avalanche warnings.
Explore the route from the hamlet of Alfarëi to the Col dal Lé mountain or from Antermoia to the Maurerberg mountain. The ascents from the Pederü guest house to the Fanes or Sennes mountain refuges are equally as impressive.

Winter hikes in a fairytale landscape

Winter is a great season for a good hike, although the cold weather makes it a very different experience compared to summer. The ground glows a bright white and acts as sound-proofing, emanating a majestic calm. A hike along the nature parks’ cleared paths is the perfect way to relax.
You have the choice of a few magical circular tours of the Würzjoch: an ascent to the Costaces mountain or to the Peitlerwiesen alpine meadow. From Antermoia, hikers can head to the Maurerberg mountain, the hamlet of Alfarëi or to the Würzjoch mountain. There are three excellent circular tours in San Martin and Lungiarü.

Hotel reviews

  • Personal touch
I had the most amazing stay. The owner went out of her way to provide service above and beyond. Made breakfast at 4:30 am so I could make the start of my cycle Gran Fondo. The room was beautiful and cleaned daily and the meals were sumptuous. Staff were exceptional. I recommend this hotel.

  • “Jewel of a Hotel”
We have stayed at this family-run hotel twice while skiing over New Year's week, and both times were absolutely wonderful. The rooms are spotlessly clean, and they are able to offer family-sized, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suites that work well for us, especially with all of our skiing paraphernalia. The Prousch family and their employees work very hard to make sure their customers feel like guests. In the course of a week, you get to know other guests, many of whom return year after year, for good reason. The new bar area reminds me of staying at a lodge or retreat, with families playing games, doing puzzles and chatting in the evening hours between skiing and dinner. My daughter loved the kids' area and made new friends (German and Italian are the languages in the kids' "club"). Breakfast and dinner are consistently excellent, with new culinary experiences each trip. The view of the Dolomites from the hotel is absolutely incredible...

  • Convenient,Clean,Friendly,Value
Stayed here in January 2012 for avalanche training in mountains and skiing for fun. Convenient to ski areas and Dolomiten hiking trails. Hotel and rooms are spotlessly clean. Food is excellent, but most importantly the Prausch family makes you feel at home and have excellent hospitality. Very nice people. The area is peaceful and special. Daily shuttles to the ski areas are complimentary. I will visit them again and highly recommend this hotel for family vacation or a ski vacation.
